Arrow – a journey to functional programming in Kotlin (Englisch)
- 16. September 2024
- 15:50–16:35 Uhr
Detailed talk description
In Kotlin we already have lots of elements of functional programming, e.g., operations like map() over a collection is something that we see almost every day. Arrow is a collection of libraries that brings even more idiomatic functional programming to Kotlin. In the past it could feel quite niche and complicated, however after multiple iterations it became a tool that can be beneficial to lots of engineers. In this talk we briefly go over the evolution of Arrow, dive deep into the most interesting parts that we have today and look at what future releases will bring us.
Things you will learn in this lecture
- basics of functional programming
- techniques like error handling and collectors
- advanced topics like optics and resource handling
- things that we are looking for in future releases of Arrow
